A place where Californians can taste, learn and connect with the state’s extraordinary agricultural story.

The Farm at Cal Expo
A living connection to California agriculture
California is one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world, yet many Californians have little opportunity to see firsthand how their food is grown or meet the people who produce it.
Since 1984, the Farm at Cal Expo has helped connect Californians with agriculture, education and community. With room to grow—and broader support—it can offer students, families and visitors an even deeper understanding of the land, people and systems behind California’s food.
Come experience the Farm for yourself.
This September, the California State Fair Foundation is bringing the community together for An Evening on the Farm. A chance to see the Farm up close and help support what comes next.

The Farm at Cal Expo
Since 1984, the Farm has grown more than crops. It has helped Californians understand where their food comes from and the people and work behind it. In 2025 alone, the Farm grew and donated 11,000 pounds of fresh produce to the Sacramento Food Bank, helping locally grown food reach families throughout the community.
Expanding the Farm would build on that impact—creating more space to grow and donate fresh food while giving more students, families and visitors opportunities to experience California agriculture firsthand.

Hear from Cal Expo Board Member Bobbin Mulvaney about the Farm’s potential and what its next chapter could mean for the community.
Year-round vision
Growing the Farm's future
The vision for the Farm is a year-round agricultural living classroom where students, families and visitors can experience California agriculture up close. Expansion and expanded programming can create opportunities for hands-on demonstrations, workshops and exhibits highlighting soil health, regenerative agriculture, California’s diverse food systems and careers in agriculture.
The California State Fair Foundation supports this developing work by bringing together donors, agricultural leaders and community partners who can help the Farm grow its reach and educational impact.
Four areas the Foundation seeks to help advance
1
Expand the Farm’s physical footprint
2
Increase year-round programming
3
Build agricultural and community partnerships
4
Develop educational programming
The Farm is led by Cal Expo; the Foundation builds support for this developing work.
